Andrew Robertson

Andrew Robertson is from Johannesburg, born and bred. He avoided most of high school by volunteering as a fire-fighter at the age of 16. He then went on to work with his brothers at an engine company and a rescue team for 5 years, an experience which shaped much of his painting at that time.

After matriculating Andy had a short lived career as a student and dropped out of some of Jozi's finest institutions to make his own way. He started out in advertising as designer/coffee maker, working his way up from middleweight designer to creative director. He soon decided that the only heavyweights are boxers and that he could work more creatively on his own.

Andy maintains that he has learnt more about creativity from the Bushido philosophy, which underpins boxing and ValeTudo, than from what he ever learnt in an art class.

He is currently a co-director of Glyphic Evolutions, an art company that defies categorization.
