This is a narrative of murky love set in a 1970’s South African home. ‘So, this is Desire?’ explores the tension between; legalism and natural desire, love and controlled emotion – and how the worst of ourselves might be revealed despite our tightest efforts of self-control.
The narrative includes children who are sentinels in our homes, perhaps the wall on which the film of our households (if one were allowed to be made) are projected. Their desire is only to be loved. Our protection of them has much to do with how we are able to love, and model love to them.
Desire, love and hope weave between these generations of characters, with a slant of madness… we may be from one of the generations represented in this series, or have been affected by them in some way.
